So here’s a thought…
Often, students can be put off studying English because they don’t enjoy reading. For bookworms like me, I find it sad some people don’t get to find out about some brilliant stories unless it becomes a film. BUT, the world of audiobooks could potentially open those avenues up. For years, students have skipped reading certain books and listened instead – I did it myself with the classic ‘Emma’ on a cassette tape – but what if schools actually embraced and promoted the audiobook of a story? If teachers can take onboard the idea that ‘audiobooks are not cheating’, then maybe, just maybe, it’ll open the minds of some reluctant readers and maybe even increase some pass rates?
